Massetino represents the "second wine" made by Tenuta Masseto, despite its defined and elegant identity. It is made with a blend of Merlot (the same used to produce Masseto) and a small percentage of Cabernet Franc. Each portion of vineyard is harvested and vinified separately and all parts are assembled only after the long maceration in concrete tanks and a slow 12-month ageing in oak barriques. In the glass it's ruby red with bright garnet shades. The bouquet is complex, wide, with crackling hints of ripe cherries and undergrowth, in addition to lightly spiced hints. The sip is rich, full-bodied, with pleasant freshness. Massetino 2020 is recommended with rich first courses with meat sauces, game, braised and stuffed beef.
