The Barolo "Conteisa" of Gaja winery is an excellent Piedmontese red wine produced with Nebbiolo grapes mainly grown in the prestigious "cerequio" cru. The term "conteisa" in Piedmontese dialect means contention and was chosen by Angelo Gaja in order to remember the dispute that anciently took place between the municipalities of La Morra and Barolo to grab the possession of the prestigious hills of the Cerequio area.
A robust wine, in the glass it shows a beautiful intense garnet red color with orange reflections; the bouquet is very intense and complex with aromas of blackberry, ripe red fruit, jam, with some floral notes. After aging for more than 24 months in barrique and cask, it is characterized by a good balance, an excellent roundness and a good tannic note. Perfect wine for aging, to buy and forget in the cellar, it is perfect to drink in combination with roast meat, game and well-aged cheeses.
