This is a powerful and vigorous Barolo wine that takes the name from an homonymous Vineyard in Serralunga d’Alba: Angelo Gaja has decided to call it “Sperss”, by using a dialectal term, which means longing of precious things lost with the time. This wine presents an intense ruby red colour, a little bit transparent; it includes a various and charming bouquet with fruited aroma of blackberry, blueberry, cherry’s jam, black pepper, truffle, leather, licorice. This wine has great softness and important tannins; thanks to its peculiarities, this wine is excellent in combination with roasted red meats, game, seasoned cheeses and platters based on the famous Alba white Truffle. Eventually, it has a good capacity of aging.
The 2016 vintage was awarded with 100/100 by the prestigious Wine Advocate magazine.
