Gorgona by Marchesi Frescobaldi is a unique wine resulting from a social project that began in August 2012, born from the collaboration between Frescobaldi and Gorgona, a beautiful prison island within the Tuscan Archipelago National Park. Through this project, inmates spending their last period of imprisonment here can work in nature, gaining skills and experience that will facilitate their reintegration into society. The wine Gorgona comes from a small vineyard planted with Vermentino and Ansonica, now covering two hectares. The cultivation is carried out by the inmates of the prison, with the collaboration and supervision of Frescobaldi's agronomists. The result is an extraordinary wine, symbolizing hope and freedom.
Gorgona 2023 shows in the glass a beautiful straw yellow color with golden reflections, brilliant and transparent. On the nose, it impresses with its complex and intense bouquet, broad and Mediterranean, featuring notes of white and yellow flowers, prominently chamomile, daisy, mimosa, and broom. Following this are notes of rosemary, helichrysum, and savory, complemented by exotic fruit notes such as mango, papaya, passion fruit, and pineapple, leading to pleasantly citrusy aromas. The finish is mineral. On the palate, it is savory, fresh, and long, with great persistence, complexity, and intensity, striking for its precise taste and olfactory correspondence.
