The flagship wine of Ornellaia, first produced in 1985, is a Tuscan masterpiece and a masterful expression of the renowned Bolgheri estate. This prestigious red wine is crafted from carefully selected grapes sourced from the finest vineyards of the estate. The blend of Ornellaia 2021 is composed as follows: 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, and 7% Petit Verdot. It rests in barriques in the temperature-controlled Ornellaia cellar for approximately 18 months: after the first 12 months, the blending process takes place, and then the wine is returned to the barriques for a further 6 months. After an additional 12-month refinement period in the bottle, the wine is released to the market. The 2021 vintage, characterized by optimal climatic conditions, has produced a wine of extraordinary elegance and complexity, rich and concentrated. In the glass, it shows a deep, intense ruby-red color. The nose reveals a rich and enveloping bouquet, with typical scents of Mediterranean scrub and aromatic herbs, accompanied by classic aromas of dark berries and blackcurrant. On the palate, it is structured and harmonious, elegant, with a dense tannic texture and a pleasant freshness. The finish is long and persistent. Ornellaia 2021 is a wine designed for long aging, perfect to be enjoyed on its own or paired with beef fillets, roasts, game, and aged cheeses.
