Garnet red
Elegant and complex
Full-bodied and enveloping
The 2018 vintage is the first release of this Barolo, made from pure Nebbiolo grapes cultivated within the Cru Monvigliero, one of the most prestigious Menzioni Geografiche Aggiuntive (MGA) of Barolo, located in the municipality of Verduno. The vinification follows a traditional process, with a long fermentation in contact with the skins to extract the maximum aromas and tannins. After fermentation, the wine is aged in large oak barrels for at least 32 months, during which it develops complexity and depth. This is followed by further aging in the bottle to ensure perfect balance and harmonious structure. In the glass, the Barolo Monvigliero by Scarpa presents a beautiful, bright garnet red color of good intensity. On the nose, it offers an elegant and complex bouquet, intense with notes of violets and roses, ripe red fruits such as cherry and raspberry, accompanied by hints of orange zest, cocoa, and a touch of fine spices. On the palate, it is full-bodied and enveloping, with well-present but fine and smooth tannins. The structure is solid, accompanied by a pleasant freshness. Characterized by a long and persistent finish, tha Barolo Monvigliero docg by Scarpa is a wine of great class and versatility, ideal for pairing with refined dishes. It pairs perfectly with red meats, game, roasts, and braised dishes. It is also excellent with aged cheeses, truffles, and traditional Piedmontese dishes. It is a wine with great aging potential.
