Description

Gorgona by Marchesi Frescobaldi is a unique wine, that is the result of a social project born in August 2012 from the collaboration between Frescobaldi and Gorgona, a beautiful penitentiary island within the Tuscan Archipelago National Park. Thanks to this project, prisoners who spend the last period of their sentence here can work in contact with nature, acquiring professionalism and experience that will facilitate their reintegration into society. Gorgona Rosso wine was produced for the first time in 2015 from some rows of Sangiovese and Vermentino Nero, grown organically by the penitentiary inmates, with the collaboration and supervision of Frescobaldi agronomists. As the Gorgona Bianco, this is an extraordinary wine, a symbol of hope and freedom. After a period of refinement in terracotta jars, Gorgona Rosso 2021 by Marchesi Frescobaldi shows a beautiful intense ruby red color with some garnet reflections. On the nose it expresses a large and complex bouquet, very varied, with notes of small red fruits, accompanied by hints of juniper, Mediterranean herbs and sweet spices. In the mouth it is warm and enveloping, but at the same time fresh and tasty, characterized by lively tannins. Gorgona Rosso 2021 by Marchesi Frescobaldi is an extraordinary, harmonious and balanced wine perfect for accompanying red meats and medium-aged cheeses.
