The Barbera d'Alba Valbianchera Vecchie Viti of Giovanni Almondo winery is a wine made with grapes grown in clay and calcareous soil on the Roero hills. The grapevines date back to early 1900, from which the name “Vecchie Viti” derives. After aging in used French oak barriques, this wine shows an intense ruby red color and it develops a fruity and intense bouquet with notes of jam, ripe cherry and aromatic herbs. The Barbera Vecchie Viti of Almondo winery has a good structure, a persistent final and a good balance. It is perfect if drunk in combination with meat dishes, cold cuts and seasoned cheeses, but it is also great with a good risotto with porcini mushrooms.
