Soutiran is a small family-based winery located in Ambonnay, in the southern part of Montagne de Reims, in the heart of Champagne region. It was established in 1969 by Gérard Soutiran and run by his first son Alain. The Maison has a traditional and artisanal approach, and pays high attention to the terroir improvement. Between Eighties and Nineties, Valérie, Alain’s daughter, got the reins of the business and started spreading the commercial visibility of the brand. Now the estate is run by Valérie with her husband Patrick Renaux. Together, they take care of 6 hectares of vineyards and the processes in the cellar. The winery adopts sustainable ways of working, paying attention to the soil management and avoiding chemical treatments. The vinification process aims at enhancing the original terroir features, characterised by strength and nutritional richness. In order to translate these peculiarities into maximum quality, these Champagne bottles spend a long rest in wood containers and all filling dosages are made ad hoc on each cuvée. Champagne made by Soutiran winery are highly appreciated for their intense structure, their complexity and a peculiar mineral scent, typical of Ambonnay soils rich in limestone.
