Rèmi Leroy, oenologist and agronomist engineer graduated in Bordeaux in 2006, decided to devote himself to the 9 hectares of family vineyards, characterized by a clay and calcareous soil and located in the municipality of Meurville, in the Côte des Bar. The vineyards are on average 20 years old and are cultivated mainly in Pinot Noir (70%), 20% in Chardonnay and the remaining 10% in Pinot Meunier. Particular importance is given to the work in the vineyard, with the aim of producing grapes that at the time of harvest are ripe, concentrated in precursors of aromas and rich in mineral substances. Thanks to the quality of the grapes, the dosages of Remi Leroy are very low, far from the champenois standard. In the cellar, the winemaking is carried out with natural methods, following the goal of Rémi Leroy to use sulfites less and less and to make the best use of the natural temperature and the microbiological population of the cellar. The Champagnes of Remy Leroy are very special and have a great potential for aging.
